Err, the difference between the two is HUGE. Besides the fact that the book, Alice's Adventure in Wonderland is an 1865 novel and Chronicles of Narnia was written around 1950s. If you can't tell the difference, I'm truly appalled. Just because they share the same 'portal to another world' idea, doesn't mean they're alike in any way. Superficial remark is superficial.
The cast for the 2010 movie was what you'd generally expect from Tim Burton, which includes Johnny Depp and Helena Carter as usual, whom both do terrific parts into being 'fit' for this movie. What I like about this movie too is that there's an amazing soundtrack to suck you in with it, and the Victorian clothing for that century was all remarkably well done, as well as all the designs for Underland. All the characters for Underland were beautifully adapted: The Caterpillar, March Hare, Dormouse, White Rabbit, Cheshire cat, etc.
It surpassed my expectations as an adaption but it didn't really do much else.
If anything, you'll love it if you like Tim Burton's quirky movies, and as did I.
It was more the whole two sides of fictional characters, both led by royalty, that made me think it.
And I'm actually a massive Tim Burton fan, my favourite movie being Nightmare before christmas. I love Johnny Depp AND Helena Bonham Carter in things like Sweeney Todd (another Burton favourite).
I just didn't think it was quite up to his usual standard. I expected something darker and with a more gory twist.
